Is it possible to put weapons on battle square reserve heroes?

yes do it where you add them.

It only let's you use weapons not currently in use for defense. I want a different setup for attack.

There is a definite bug with the equipment.  Can't select a equip used in defense for attack.

As far as I can tell, the whole problem stems from the piecemeal addition of separate formations for various game modes, but not making each one absolutely exclusive.  So unless you strip your heroes naked in every game mode, its likely the Reserves will always give you issues trying to equip something that's used in other modes.  And when I mean EVERY mode, I mean including Hero Trials, Battle Square, Colesseum, Arena, Campaign Clash, etc.  I don't think it overlaps with ALL of them, but its incorrectly checking one of those weird game modes to see if the item is in use.  Currently I cannot equip a dragon heart on Wolvenfiend, because Wolvenfiend has it equipped......

One additional I should add, is even if you remove equip from your hero bases, and from your LL/GC/RR formation, it often will still show as equipped in your hero screen (the one where you level them up and lock them). If you remove it from there, sometimes it will let you use it on Reinforcements.
